We spent 6 days in Albania including one night and half a day in North Macedonia when we toured Lake Ohrid. We ended up spending less time than planned in Albania because we skipped many visits due to the weather.
The visit to Austria was initially planned as a brief stopover to explore the Tyrol region. Despite experiencing a major breakdown and budget impact, two planned points of interest were explored: Krimml Waterfall and Grossglockner Alpine Route. Although the brakes failed, the experience in the Hohe Tauern National Park was still cherished, despite the 5-day setback and financial cost.
Arriving in Montenegro, we spent 2 days traveling to the north to visit Durmitor National Park and then returned to explore the south after a few days in Serbia. Our 10-day expenses totaled €512, averaging €51 per day for 2 adults and a baby. We traveled 922 km, consuming 87 liters of gas at an average of 9.5L/100km. The condition of the roads was good, but finding a laundromat was challenging.
We encountered challenges driving in Italy and fell ill during our visit, but still enjoyed discovering Rome, Pisa, and Venice. We found a serene spot by the Taro River, explored thermal baths, admired Pompeii's preservation, and visited the medieval city of San Marino. Our favorite was the Ancient City of Pompeii.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the journey lasted 8 days, costing €417, averaging €52/day for 2 adults and a baby. Traveling 900 km, consuming 78 liters of gas, the average was 8.7L/100. Positives include solitude, affordable eating out, while potential mine risks and scarce laundromats are drawbacks.
